Jordan Leads in Renewable Energy Contribution

Jordan ranks first in the Middle East for renewable energy contribution to electricity. The government is taking steps to enhance this sector through an economic modernization vision, including green hydrogen production.


Jordan Leads in Renewable Energy Contribution

The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Jordan, Dr. Saleh al-Harabsheh, announced on Tuesday: "Licenses will first be issued to specialized companies for the search for gold, copper and mineral resources, and work will also be conducted on the production of green hydrogen." He noted that around 27% of electricity in Jordan is generated from renewable sources.

He also stated: "This makes Jordan a leader in the Middle East in investing in renewable energy in the energy balance." He emphasized the opening of the first National Conference on energy and mineral resources in Jordan, which is part of the government's efforts to develop this sector in line with economic goals for renewables.

The Secretary-General of the Ministry, Amani Al-Azzaam, clarified the work on projects.
