The Jordanian Ministry of Public Works has begun collecting a 'passage service fee' from every vehicle passing through the toll zone on the road section between Qasayr Umrah and Al-Harithaniyah, heading towards the Saudi border ('Al-Harithaniyah - Umrah'), starting yesterday. The Ministry set the tariff at 850 fils for small vehicles, and 2 dinars and 500 fils for cargo trucks and foreign cars. Government and military vehicles, security and civil defense vehicles, ambulances, vehicles of official delegations, and any other vehicles designated by the Minister are exempt from the fee. The Ministry confirmed that the fee will be collected through multiple payment methods, either in cash or via approved electronic payment systems. This project is part of the Ministry's plan to develop the national road network and enhance its efficiency, ensuring smoother traffic flow and improving the quality of services for road users. The 'Al-Harithaniyah - Umrah' road previously underwent a comprehensive rehabilitation process, which included removing old asphalt layers, implementing a new asphalt mix according to the highest international technical standards, and enhancing road safety elements along the entire route. The works also included maintenance of the concrete bridge in the Al-Muqarr Industrial Zone and equipping it with solar-powered lighting columns.
