Record Demand for Poultry in Ramadan Leads to Price Drop in Jordan

The Director-General of the Jordanian Poultry Farmers' Union revealed that the local market consumed eight million chickens during the first week of the holy month of Ramadan, an unprecedented record reflecting the high demand during this period every year. Ruan Abu Aadi noted that purchases were concentrated in the first three days, then began to decline on the fourth and fifth days. She added that the availability of supply contributed to meeting the needs of the Jordanian consumer and led to a 25% drop in prices compared to those at the beginning of the fasting month. Abu Aadi confirmed, according to Jordanian media, that poultry prices in this Ramadan are the lowest in many years, attributing this to several factors, most notably production surpluses, improved efficiency, and generally good health conditions in poultry farms, which helped supply markets with large quantities of poultry with higher weights.
