Abd al-Rahman Makhlouf from Jordan has been practicing calisthenics for nine years. He hopes that one day his name will be recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. The 19-year-old Abd al-Rahman shares: "I am the only athlete in my country engaged in calisthenics on the parallel bars."
Calisthenics is a sports discipline that allows training flexibility, fitness, and muscle endurance. This term comes from Greek and means "beauty in strength." The exercises include elements similar to gymnastics. Abd al-Rahman, who has been using the parallel bars since birth, aims to enter the Guinness Book of Records for achieving success in calisthenics.
Using available fitness equipment in one of the parks, Abd al-Rahman demonstrates impressive strength, lifting and holding the crossbar to the lower part of the body.
Abd al-Rahman noted that for almost nine years of practicing calisthenics, he has not received any support from any organizations, clubs, or government structures.
