Jordan Faces Natural Gas Supply Disruptions

Jordan's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Kharabsheh, announced on Sunday that ongoing regional events have led to a halt in the Kingdom's natural gas supplies from Mediterranean fields used for electricity generation. According to Jordan's news agency 'Petra,' Kharabsheh stated in a press release that the approved emergency plan has been implemented, involving a switch to various energy alternatives, including liquefied natural gas via a floating vessel, diesel, or heavy fuel. The minister explained that switching from natural gas to diesel costs the National Electricity Company approximately 1.8 million Jordanian dinars daily, while assuring that Jordan has a sufficient strategic reserve and no technical issues with the supply process.
