Jordan's Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, has expressed his support for the creation of a Palestinian state that lives in peace alongside a secure Israel in the region. Safadi emphasized the importance of Gaza and the West Bank uniting as a single entity under the supervision of the Palestinian Authority, with exclusive control over matters of peace and war. He highlighted the need to find a solution for both the Palestinian and Israeli peoples to coexist, as neither will leave the region.
At the Davos Forum, Ayman Safadi stated: 'It is imperative to find a way for both peoples, Palestinian and Israeli, to live together.' Emphasizing the importance of global collaboration to resolve the conflict, Safadi mentioned that lasting peace between Palestine and Israel would have positive repercussions throughout the region, reducing Iranian influence on various issues. In this regard, the Jordanian minister highlighted cooperation with Israel, the United States, and European partners to prevent the situation from worsening.
Additionally, Safadi expressed optimism about the changes in Lebanon driven by a ceasefire and renewed political dynamics. However, he expressed concern about the situation in the West Bank, where violent incidents still persist that could destabilize the region. The minister highlighted the crucial role of Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East in achieving the ceasefire in Gaza and pointed out that this truce offers an opportunity to address long-term solutions in the region.
Regarding the situation in Syria, Safadi mentioned that the population celebrates the fall of the previous regime and hopes for an inclusive government from the new authorities. Jordan hosts three million Syrian refugees, and Safadi stressed that their return must be voluntary, without haste. The minister pointed out the importance of avoiding past mistakes and advocated for a future vision that prevents cycles of recurring violence in the region.
