Abdullah II, King of Jordan, confirmed in a verbal address, which was passed on by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi, the importance of supporting status quo in Jerusalem and on the Temple Mount. The king expressed serious concern regarding recent events and urged participants to refrain from provocations that could threaten stability in the holy places.
In his address, the king also emphasized the importance of preserving and protecting the historical and legal status of holy sites in Jerusalem for Muslims and Christians. The king stressed that Jordan will continue to work within its historical mandate to protect and manage Jerusalem and its holy sites.
"Historically, Jordan has played and continues to play a role in protecting the historical status of Jerusalem and its sanctity. We will continue to work at international and regional levels to uphold the legal rights of the peoples," said King Abdullah II.
