Heavy rainfall today hit several governorates in Jordan, leading to flooded roads, trapped individuals, and washed-away vehicles. Jordanian security authorities today rescued three people trapped by floods in the southern governorate of Tafilah, according to an official statement from the country's Public Security Directorate. The Directorate stated that 'civil defense teams responded today to a report of three people being trapped by floods in Tafilah, where they were able to assist and evacuate them without any significant injuries reported'. The heavy rain also inundated homes in the governorate, submerging roads in water and mud. Floods swept away a truck and a passenger bus in the central governorate of Zarqa, and the Directorate confirmed in a separate statement that the bus was not carrying passengers when it was washed away. In the capital Amman, rising floodwaters disrupted traffic on major streets in various areas of the city, and Amman Municipality teams worked to manage the rainfall. In the northern governorate of Irbid, at least one house and a school were damaged by lightning strikes, causing material damage without any injuries. In the northern governorate of Mafraq, a lightning strike caused cracks in a mosque's minaret and cut off its electricity supply.
